impressed I left Wet's latest gig in Liverpool. The band played better
than ever, although I have to admit I ever feel that way; isn't that
just a prove of their quality?! Anyway, from the very first second they
came on stage they knew how to entertain. The crowds reception was
enormous when they started with Temptation as their opening
song. Followed by the beautiful Julia Says, than hit the
roof with Get Ready, a
surprising but great choice, playing it loud and with a strong beat I
totally loved. Sweet Little
Mystery, always enjoyable, was followed by Goodnight Girl
and thanks guys, especially Neil ;-) your performance was absolutely
smashing. Their own songs are still the best I think, and after the
fabulous rock sounds of East
Of The River, great bass, they hit it off with the sing-a-long Hold Back The River, and a
straight and strong Don't
Want To Forgive Me Now. Flowing into a softer touch, Angel Eyes sounded
beautiful; to hear the warmth of Marti's voice was mind blowing.
Another amazing chorus is fitted in Somewhere Somehow, followed
by the new ballad Walking On
Water, which contains a very special atmosphere. For the first
time this Summer Weekender they added the acoustic version of Learn From Each Mistake (videoclip).
They were all on front of the stage, Tommy with only one drum, he had
to bend to manage to slam it; it was fantastic and they were all very
cheery! Their latest and first ever single, both sounding marvelous (I
love the piano on All I Want)
were followed by With A
Little Help From My Friends, and lovely words spoken by Graeme
Duffin before the song. Absolute live songs I Can Give You Everything
(you guys did it again) and Lip
Service thrilled the audience and than it was all over far too
soon, with the last song, their biggest hit Love Is All Around.
It was an amazing night, very entertaining with Marti's funny stories
in between songs and the band on top form. Glad that it's all on cd so
we can play it over and over again and relive this fabulous evening. (c) Only About The Songs - by Monique van Spellen |
